Do I need to be in shape before starting kickboxing?

Many people think they need to whip themselves into shape before starting a kickboxing class. Not true. Kickboxing is a total body workout. It will GET YOU fit fast. All shapes and sizes can benefit. Intermediate or beginner levels, our instructors are trained to work with you. Head instructor, Mr.Ramirez is a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Give us a try and let us get you fit.

Am I expected to spar?
No. There is no toe to toe contact with partners. No fighting. No sparring. However, you do learn proper form on how to punch and kick. Your punching bag is your "partner."

Do I need gloves to participate in kickboxing? How should I dress?

Comfortable clothing is a must. Choose apparel as if you were going to make a trip to the gym. Keeping in mind you'll be doing quite a bit of kicking and punching. Shoes are optional. Hand wraps and gloves work the best.

What does the Fit Factory's Cardio Kickboxing class consist of?

We start the class off with a warm up that consists of: stretching, floor exercises, and strength work. Techniques such as: kicking, punching, blocking and foot maneuvers are incorporated. Fitness is important to us as well as learning technique, power, and self-defense moves. We end the class with proper stretching and a cool down. There are several exercises that are incorporated thus making every class unique. Gotta keep it exciting!

Are there any fees to join?

Am I too old/too young to participate in the class?

It's never too old to start. You can start cardio kickboxing at any age—at your own pace. However, always check with your physician as you would with any new exercise program. As far as youngsters go, it all depends on how cooperative each individual is. For example, a first grader is more expected to follow directions than a pre-schooler. All in all, The Fit Factory instructors do their best to make every class a fun experience.
